END OF YEAR REPORT FOR YEAR 2004 BY PROJECT CATEGORIES Rebuilding the Church - $23,800 raised With this initial amount the following has been accomplished: | | Work was begun for relocating the Diocesan Center from Kadugli to Kurchy as a result of the completed peace process. The Diocesan Center will include office space, a training center, a guest house, and a home for the Bishop and his family. The Diocesan Center was officially opened and blessed by Lord Carey, former Archbishop of Canterbury, January 15, 2005. In the U.S., this would be called "a ground breaking ceremony."
| | | | | | Rebuilding destroyed churches and the Bishop Mubarak Bible Institute has begun. The total cost to reopen the Institute is $20,600. By the end of 2004, $10,400 has been raised to do this. | | |
| | | | | | A Special Fund has been established for the purchase of a vehicle for Bishop Andudu. To date, $6,000 is in this fund. $29,000 remains to be raised. In the interim four (4) bicycles have been purchased. | | | |
Rebuilding Education - $20,800 raised With this initial amount the following has been accomplished: | | The first High School opened in the Nuba, October 2004. This is a community effort in which persons of many different faith traditions helped, Christian, Muslim, and others. By the end of December NCFM was able to assure Bishop Andudu that there was funding for the full 2004-2005 school year. Two teachers and a head master are employed. About 75 students are enrolled. We appeal to all our donors and friends to help us build a state of the art physical plant for this most important work in the Nuba. $73,000 remains to be raised to fully develop the physical plant and equip it. Included in the complex will be dormitories for the students, housing for the teachers, as well as classrooms, a library, a kitchen, and a dining hall.
| | | | | | ECS HopePrimary School officially opened October 1, 2004 with five teachers, a large volunteer staff, and 423 registered students. This is a school for not only young children, but also for those 10-18 who missed school in war time, as well as a night school for adults. To date, $10,050 has been raised, $20,000 remains to be raised for the full capital development of this school. | | |
| | | | | | The Kori Teacher Training Institute was opened in March 2002 by the SPLM Commander Abdula Azziz in Kurchy, thanks to the effort of Mr. George Tuto for supporting this over the last three years. Forty five students, the first class, will graduate June, 2005. Another class of 45 will graduate the following year. Help to feed the students continues to be a need. $200 would cover six months. | | |
| | | | Feeding the People - $1,000 raised With the signing of the Peace Agreement, January 2003, over four million displaced persons from within and without Sudan will be returning. This presents a major feeding problem during the returnees resettlement. | | A grain project, much like that created in the Old Testament by Joseph in the Book of Genesis, has been established by Bishop Andudu. $1,000 has been raised for this. $900 more is needed. | | |
| | | | Bishop Andudu visits U.S. - $6,600 In 2003, NCFM invited Bishop Andudu to visit the U.S. and tour eleven cities, sharing the story of his people.
